City of Campbell River manager wins Top 20 Under 40 award

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.-A City of Campbell River employee is one of Vancouver Island’s best and brightest.

Amber Zirnhelt has won a Top 20 Under 40 Business Award. The awards recognize the best young professionals on Vancouver Island.

Zirnhelt is Campbell River’s manager of long range planning and sustainability. She say says she was honoured to win:

The city says among Zirnhelt’s accomplishments are charting the year-long process to develop the city’s Sustainable Official Community Plan, championing the Campbell River Youth Action Committee and Youth Engagement Strategy, securing more than $2 million in grant money for sustainability and long range planning, and teaming up with the Comox Regional District on an organics composting facility for Campbell River which ended up getting a $6 million grant from the federal government.

She says she can’t take all the credit:

She’s been nominated for the award three times, and was among the top 20 of the 111 nominations for the 2018 Business and Community Achievement awards as well.
