A man has gotten the maximum sentence available under Canadian law after killing his partner on remote Island near Port McNeill in 2013.
Accused Traigo Andretti didn’t have a lawyer when he was sentenced in Campbell River Supreme Court.
Neil MacKenzie, communications council with the criminal justice branch, says Andretti was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for at least 25 years and an additional 2 years for interfering with human remains.
Traigo Andretti killed his partner Jennifer McPerson on Hanson Island, in April of 2013.
MacKenzie says Andretti is going to serve his sentence in a federal penitentiary.
