Monday was the National Day of Mourning for workers who suffer a lifetime disability, were injured or killed on the job.
Workers and representatives from the fire department and the RCMP were at Frank James Park at a remembrance ceremony.
City Deputy Manager Ron Neufeld spoke at the gathering saying in the past year alone 3 workers were killed on the job in the Comox Strathcona Region.
Campbell River Courtenay District Labor Council president Andrea Craddock is one of the organizers of the ceremony.
Craddock says similar gatherings are happening across the country and even internationally.
