Property tax notices being sent out to residents

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – Property tax notices are in the mail.

City of Campbell River property owners can expect to see their notices arrive in their mailboxes the first week of June.

The notices will come with an illustrated pamphlet detailing the services that are supported by property taxes and explaining methods for payment.

“Whichever payment method people select, we remind everyone that, to avoid a 10 per cent penalty, payment and completed Home Owner Grant applications must be received by July 3, 2018,” said the city’s director of finance and CFO, Myriah Foort, in a city-issued release.

“We also remind property owners to check tax notices and water and sewer charges to ensure active or de-activated secondary suites are correctly noted in the property tax calculation.”

Property tax payments can be submitted in person at City Hall, or by mail. To avoid a penalty, all payments must be received by July 3. The city said post-dated cheques are accepted, and payment can also be made by debit card.

However, the city cannot accept a payment by credit card.
