The local hospice society is applauding North Island MLA Claire Trevena for raising the issue of a funding discrepancy for hospices on Vancouver IslandĀ in the legislature.
Iona Wharton, director of programs and services at the Campbell River Hospice Society, says they only get about 6 percent of their operating budget from Island Health.
To that end the hospice is hosting their Angel Rock dinner and dance this Saturday to raise money.
