CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C- A recent string of thefts have left some businesses in Campbell River robbed of their landscaping.
According to RCMP spokesperson Ron Vlooswyk, there have been five confirmed crimes involving plants from local businesses since the beginning of May.
“From what we’re seeing, they appear to be related,” said Vlooswyk.

“We’re starting to add up to thousands of dollars. This isn’t an act of vandalism, the plants are being taken and planted elsewhere,” said the RCMP spokesperson.
“And we know they’re not being pawned,” he added.
One problem the RCMP is having, according to Vlooswyk, is that some thefts are not being reported.
“One of the things that’s always hindering us is people not reporting, or not thinking it’s significant enough,” he said.
“Our crime analysts can figure out what’s being targeted, and then we can focus our resources on those problem areas.”
