CR Giants take on Nanaimo for Special Olympics fundraiser

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C – The Campbell River men’s fastball team said the match up against Nanaimo this weekend will be a good show, and it’s for a great cause.

This Saturday, the CR Giants take on the Nanaimo Bakers Supply to raise money for the Campbell River Special Olympics.

It’s the first time the team has fundraised for the special olympics and Steve Wallace, a player for the Giants, said the team is excited to do so.

“It’s a great cause that we thought would be something beneficial to give back to,” said Wallace.

“I’m just hoping to get as many fans out as we can, and help support a great cause. Hopefully we’ll put on a good show for them.”

The team is holding a raffle to raise money, with the grand prize of two tickets to a Seattle Mariners vs Toronto Blue Jays game on August 4th, including one night accommodation in Seattle.

Tickets go on sale at the field at 1 pm, no pre-sale tickets will be available.

The draw for the winner will be done at the end of the third inning of the second game, ticket buyers do not have to be present to win a prize.

The games start at 1:00 pm, Saturday June 23rd at the Campbell River Sportsplex.
