Two new forwards commit to Storm

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – The Campbell River Storm have announced the commitments of two new players ahead of the upcoming VIJHL season.

Cypress, California native Logan Berggren comes to the team after playing with the Los Angeles Kings (NHL) Junior Youth Hockey Organization of Tier 1 Elite Hockey.

Last season, the 6 foot 2 forward scored six goals and dished out 13 assists over the course of 36 games.

“Logan will bring a lot of size to the front end for us this year and we will look for him to be a big net front presence,” read a release from the team.

Logan will wear number 19 for his first season with the Storm.

Another player joining the 2017-2018 VIJHL champions is forward Zach Trempner, a native of Lethbridge, Alberta.

The 5 foot 9 2000-born player suited up for the Lethbridge Midget AA Hurricanes last season. In 41 games, he scored 15 goals and recorded a wicked 33 assists.

His strong playoff run, where he averaged two points per game, helped lead the team to a SCAHL championship victory.

“Trempner plays a heavy game and isn’t afraid to mix things up and go to the hard areas, which is something that will be very valuable as the season pushes into the later months,” stated the Campbell River-based club.

“A more underrated side of his game is his offensive play, which is evidenced by his back-to-back 34-point seasons in the SCAHL.”

Prior to playing with Lethbridge, Trempner suited up for Taber. In 40 games during the 2016-2017 season, he scored 18 goals and recorded 19 assists for 37 points.

To get set for next season, he’ll train out of the Nanaimo Clippers BCHL Main Camp.
