CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C- Temporary road closures near the Campbell River hospital are scheduled for next week.

According to a press release from the Vancouver Island Health Authority, 2nd Avenue and Birch Street will be closed from Monday, August 27th to Wednesday, August 29th.
2nd Avenue will have periodic closures between Alder Street and Birch Street from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 27th and Tuesday, August 28th.
Birch Street will have periodic closures between 1st and 2nd avenues from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29th.
VIHA advised that only local traffic will be allowed through these areas while work is underway, and traffic control personnel will be on site to assist motorists. The roads will be reopened at the end of each work day.
The 2nd Avenue/Birch Street intersection will remain open, and pedestrian access will be maintained through the work sites.
The hospital’s main entrance on 2nd Avenue will still be accessible from Dogwood Street and the emergency entrance off of Birch Street will still be accessible from Evergreen Road.
The closures are due to the installation of an underground storm drain.
