Child struck by car on Tuesday morning

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – An 11-year-old pedestrian was struck by a car at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

According to a release from the RCMP, the boy was crossing South Dogwood Street at the Robron crosswalk when he was struck. Police say two factors may have been at play when the incident occurred: glare from the sun and a possible hesitation by the boy to cross the street.

The crosswalk lights were on but when the pedestrian crossed, he was struck by the car.

The drive of the car has since been charged for failing to yield to a pedestrian. The boy was was transported to the hospital but has now been released with minor injuries.
