CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – A suspect has been going around the city and stealing from vehicles.
According to the Campbell River Crime Stoppers, the police believe there is only one suspect responsible for a string of vehicle thefts in the city.
On November 5th at around 5:50 a.m., a resident put their belongings in their car and walked their dog around the block in the Cedar neighbourhood. When they returned, a male individual was inside their unlocked vehicle.
The vehicle owner confronted the man, but the suspect pulled out what appeared to be a firearm, pointed it at the vehicle owner, and fled. The man took with him electronic items from the car.
A police service dog tracked the suspect toward the hospital, but the suspect got away.
The Campbell River RCMP are warning residents not to confront or give chase to persons involved in property crimes, but to call the police immediately with a detailed description of the person, including the direction of travel.Â
