UPDATE: B.C. Hydro crews have restored power for 1, 570 customers affected by a power outage earlier.

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – Strong winds have taken out power for a few areas in Campbell River.

According to B.C. Hydro, power is out west of Homewood Rd, east of the Gold River Highway, north of 9th Ave., and south of Island Highway.

The strong winds have knocked down some trees, which took down electrical lines along with it.

1, 570 customers are affected. B.C. Hydro is now on route to fix the lines. There is no word yet on when power will be restored.
