The following stories have been culled from the Campbell River RCMP crime blog.

DIAL A DOPE BUSTED

On February 13, 2015 the Campbell River RCMP Street Crimes Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant on an apartment in the 600 block of 2nd Avenue.  During the execution of the warrant 3 males were arrested. All have ties to the lower mainland.

Drugs and drug trafficking paraphernalia were found during the search of the residence.  Also located was a replica firearm, an expandable baton and over $27,000 in cash. .

On February 14, 2015 the Street Crimes Unit executed a second search warrant on a related residence in the 800 block of the South Island Highway, and located additional drugs.

In total approximately 1.6 Kilograms of Cocaine and 500 grams of heroin were seized. 3 vehicles were also seized by Police.

Bail hearings have been conducted for the accused.  2 were released from custody, and will be making their first appearance on Wednesday, February 18.   The third was held in custody to appear in court.

UNLAWFULLY AT LARGE

On January 21, 2015 Robert Oliver (aka Bird)  Nelson (40 years) of Campbell River was convicted of Uttering Threats. He was sentenced to 73 days of jail to be served intermittently on weekends until the sentence was complete.

On Friday February 6th Robert Nelson failed to turn himself in as required per his sentence Order. Robert Nelson is Unlawfully at Large and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or contact Crimestoppers.

TRUCK THIEVES CAPTURED

On February 16th Campbell River RCMP acting on a tip located a stolen vehicle at a residence on Nursery Road.  Two males fled from the scene into a heavily wooded area.

The Campbell River RCMP Police Dog Section attended and the team was able to track the suspects to an area where they were attempting to hide.  Two male suspects age 30 and 20 were both arrested. The 30 year old suffered minor injuries and was treated at hospital and released.

Both are “of no fixed address” with the 30 year old being very well known to police. Both are facing multiple charges including Possession of Stolen Property over $5000 and are currently in custody.
