CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – The Campbell River school board commits to compensating its employees if they are injured on the job.
School District 72 published a draft bylaw, stating that if a trustee, officer, or employee of the school board claims damages or injuries while they’re on the job, the board will pay them.
According to the draft bylaw, the school board will also pay for costs incurred by the trustee, officer or employee at the time they got injured.
Trustees and employees were get compensated for job-related injuries, even if they are new to the job or they formerly held the position.
But if the trustee, officer or employee has their own insurance coverage, the board will not be compensating them.
The draft bylaw also states that the board will not pay for legal costs incurred by trustees or employees, including if the procedures result in convictions for the trustees or employees.
