North Island Metis Association hosting Elders conference in February

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – Metis Elders will be coming to Campbell River in mid-February for a conference.

North Island Metis Association (NIMA) is hosting the Elders Gathering and Conference from February 15th to 17th.

Metis adults and elders, as well as other professionals and elders from other nations are encouraged to attend.

Various workshops will be offered, including loom beading, learning how to use medicine wheels, and drum making. Other workshops focus on building relationships with Metis and other nations, as well as understanding a village.

Through grant support from Island Health and a partnership with School District 72, NIMA is able to host the conference and honour Metis culture and heritage.

Registration for the conference is now open until spaces fill up.
