CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – The two drinking fountains still in service will be shut off starting today.
According to Trina Soltys, park technician with the city, the decision to shut the drinking fountains comes in the heels of the cold temperature forecast.
“There are two water fountains in particular that we try to leave open. We have temporarily shut off those water fountains so that we don’t have any broken water lines,” Soltys said.
“The weather patterns indicate that we’re going to be getting below zero at night over the next week consistently, so we have winterized the water fountains at the artificial turf and lift station seven.”
The two water fountains can be found at Robron Park and Simms Park, by the waterfront.
Soltys said the fountains will be shut off as long as temperatures remain below zero.
