Compliance Coal pulls plug on environmental assessment application-for now

Just down island now, Compliance Coal Corporation has put their Fanny Bay area coal environmental mine application on hold, temporarily pulling out of the BC Environmental Assessment Office screening and evaluation process.

We spoke to Torrance Coste with the Wilderness Committee…

Torrance says the Wilderness Committee has serious concerns the proposed coal mine will take a negative toll on the Baynes Sound aquaculture sector.

He says in an email the President of Compliance Coal Corporation told the Associate Deputy Minister of the Environment, that misinformation in some communities on the project led to the company pulling out of the screening process for now.
