Low snow-pack could affect river levels

Bare mountain tops on the mid-island have many wondering if a drought is imminent.

Tobi Gardner with the River Forecast Centre says it could mean river and stream flows will be lower than usual this spring and summer.

Gardner says spring rains have much more of an influence on mid-island stream flows than the snow-pack, especially compared to the lower Fraser streams.

Still, he says the amount of rain in the spring will be the real indication of what’s to come.
