CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – Ocean Grove Elementary parents have received a warning today that a cougar has been spotted near the school in south Campbell River.
“We have received notification of a confirmed cougar sighting at approximately 9:30 am today on the SE field of the Ocean Grove School property,” the notice said.
“Apparently the cougar was heading east towards Hwy 19A. ”
The school said it has “taken steps to restrict its outside play area” and will have extra supervision in place.
“Please take this opportunity to speak with your children about safety procedures regarding wildlife,” the notice adds.
“A reminder that if you see wildlife in our area please contact the Conservation Officer directly at 1-877-952-7277.”
