Host families wanted for international students

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C – Campbell River Schools International is looking for families to host students.

The program has been running for over 15 years and brings high school students from across the globe to Campbell River.

The Global Engagement Manager, Mercedes Hayduk, says the program is a great way to build both local and international connections.

“The host families are probably the most important part of our process. They’re stand-in parents for our students while they are here, obviously we’re welcoming other people’s children into our community,” said Hayduk.

The program is making a push to add families for this September, but Hayduk says they look all year round because the organization wants to make sure it has enough homes for the students.

“We are actually constantly looking for new host families, intake is ongoing throughout the year, they need a place to live and they need someone to look after them on a day in, day out basis.”
