RCMP investigate stabbing incident

On Monday Campbell River RCMP responded to a report of a male who had been stabbed in the face.

Police say they responded to the 200 block of Dogwood to find a 52 year old Campbell River man with a large laceration to his right cheek requiring medical help.

RCMP say ambulance crews transported the male to Campbell River General Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Investigators learned the assault occurred on the school grounds of Cedar Elementary School and the motive behind the stabbing appeared to be robbery.

Police now confirm tonight a 25 year old Campbell River male suspect was apprehended over the lunch hour today and has been held in custody.

RCMP say he is expected to make his first appearance in Campbell River Provincial Court Thursday on charges of Robbery and Aggravated Assault.
