A new playground is ready to welcome students this fall at Penfield Elementary.
The school received $105, 000 from the provincial government to build a new accessible playground at the school.
The funding was from the province’s Playground Equipment Program, which invested $5 million into 50 new playgrounds across 34 school districts.
30 of those are universally accessible.
School districts applied for the funding by sending a list of needs in their capital plan to the provincial government.
Schools without a playground were the top priority, followed by schools with ageing playgrounds.
