One person was taken to hospital after a house fire this afternoon.
Campbell River Fire Department responded to the call shortly after 12:50pm.
The fire was in the 400 block of Old Peterson Road.
Once on scene, crews noticed the second storey of the home completely engulfed in flames.
Fire chief Thomas Doherty says one person was inside the home at the time of the fire.
“The lone occupant was able to escape the home with his three dogs and sustained some burns and some smoke inhalation, and was transported to the hospital for treatment.”
He added that fire crews were able to put out the fire fairly quickly, despite serious damage to the house.
Doherty says the cause of the fire is currently under investigation but is not being treated as suspicious.
