Disaster preparedness show coming back to Campbell River

A free disaster preparedness tradeshow is back in Campbell River.

The Strathcona Regional District is hosting the tradeshow for the third year.

It’s free for the public and is an interactive way to get families informed about getting prepared.

“We all hope that disasters don’t occur but being prepared for any disaster will minimize the impact to families and our Region,” SRD Chair Michele Babchuk said.

There will be lots of opportunities to ask questions and connect with a variety of different organizations involved in disaster preparedness and response such as Campbell River Emergency Support Services, SuavAir, Cortes Community Radio, and Western Canada Marine Spill Response”.

There will also be an opportunity to learn about emergency communications, as well as supplies needed in case of a disaster. There will be vendors such as Coast Emergency Supply and S.O.S Gear.

This year’s tradeshow also features four free sessions:

  • 3:15 – 3:45 pm   Establishing your Neighbourhood Emergency Program
  • 4:00 – 4:30 pm   Emergency Drone Operations
  • 4:45 – 5:30 pm   Pet First Aid
  • 5:45 – 6:15 pm   Live Fire Extinguisher Training

The Disaster Preparedness Tradeshow will be from 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm on October 18th at the Thunderbird Hall.
