Water shut off, roads closed on South Alder

A water transmission line has been ruptured on South Alder near Niluht.

That’s according to the City of Campbell River.

The city adds the break has caused flooding across the road and into some of the homes. Roads around the site, including the intersection at Marina and Alder have been closed for public safety.

Now that water has been shut off, some properties will be without water and others may experience low pressure or dirty water. This will continue until repair and flushing of the system has been completed.

Crews are now on site, assessing the break and planning repair work as quickly as possible.

Drivers are being asked to use alternative routes:

  • Alder St south from Frances to Garnet
  • Niluht from Kalmar to Alder

Crews are on-site assessing the break and planning repair work as quickly as possible.

The city says the water is safe to drink even if it comes out cloudy. Currently, there is no boil water advisory in place.

More details will be shared as information becomes available.

Should you have further questions, you can call the city’s Dogwood Operations Centre at 250-286-4033.
