The Campbell River Fire Rescue is looking for new On-call recruits.

On-call firefighters are important members of the Campbell River Fire and Rescue Service who work alongside full-time firefighters.

The department says on-call members are unique from career firefighters because they are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Many hold regular jobs as millworkers, tradespeople and office workers. With their employer’s permission, they stop work and attend to emergency incidents as they occur. This around-the-clock role also relies heavily on the patience and support of their family and social circles.

The department will be hosting an open house and information session on November 6th at its No. 1 Fire Station to see if any new members would like to join.
