Strathcona Regional District appoints board members

The Strathcona Regional District has elected its board members for another year.

City of Campbell River Councillor Michele Babchuk will be once again taking on the role of Chair for the board.

This will be Director Babchuck third term as Chair.

Mayor of Gold River Brad Unger is also returning for his third term as Vice-Chair.

Babchuk says she’s ready to step into the role for another term.

“I am humbled to once again be elected to this position by my peers,” said Babchuk.

“Last year was an extremely challenging year as the Directors and staff grappled with issues and processes that they have never dealt with before. We have learned a lot but are now looking forward to returning to our mandate as we focus on providing services to the constituents of our Region.”

The SRD Board consists of 13 directors made up of members who are elected by rural voters and serve four-year terms.

The election of the Chair and Vice-Chair is done annually during the Regional District’s inaugural meeting in November.
