Campbell River tree chipping raises over $3,200 for Burn Fund

The Campbell River Fire Department came together to safely dispose of Christmas trees.

The annual tree chipping was held yesterday at the lower level parking lot of the Sportsplex, keeping trees out of landfills and turning them into fresh mulch for the city to use.

A total of 8 off-duty firefighters and dispatchers were on-site.

Fire Dispatcher Bonnie Logan says the annual event saw an amazing turn-out with over $3,200 raised.

“We had everything from spare change, to $5, $10, and $20 donations. Someone even donated $100.”

All funds raised with go to the Burn Fund, a non-profit volunteer society dedicated to the treatment, support, prevention and education of burn and fire injuries.

Logan would like to thank the general public for all the support and Budget Tree Services for lending the tree chipping equipment.
