Award-winning children’s author headlining Family Literacy Week 2020 celebration

Family Literacy Week 2020 has kicked off in Campbell River with the theme “Let’s Read Together!”

The Campbell River Literacy Association’s family literacy events start today and run until Jan. 26th.

“Family Literacy Week is the Campbell River Literacy Association and its community partner’s gift to the families of Campbell River,” says CRLA’s Executive Director Kat Eddy. “All events are free and celebrate the parents of our city as their children’s first and best teachers.”

Eddy adds that reading together as a family is a child’s first introduction to reading.

“Children love it when their families read with them, even when children can read on their own. This time spent as a family creates a time to cuddle and love one another, deepens connections and builds imagination.”

CRLA and the Tidemark Theatre have once again partnered to present the annual Family Literacy Day Celebration on Jan. 26th.

Award-winning children’s author and storyteller Michael Kusugak will be headlining this year’s celebration.

Donations from community members and local businesses have made the free literacy celebration for local families possible.

Tickets are at no cost and can be reserved at the Tidemark box office on a first-come, first-served basis.

There is a limit of four tickets per family with festival seating.
