Now’s your chance to meet acclaimed Canadian wildlife artist, naturalist and conservationist Robert Bateman in person.
He’ll be at the Direct Art Gallery in Tyee Plaza tomorrow.
Gallery owner John Westergard says he’s been working with Bateman, or “Bob” as he calls him, for years and is excited to have him return to his gallery.
“His family was going to do a ski vacation at Mount Washington and Bob had some extra time, so they asked if we could arrange to possibly do a show here,” Westergard says.
The ski vacation has since been cancelled, but Bateman is still following through with his scheduled meet and greet.

Westergard says he’s been keeping busy preparing his gallery for the big appearance.
“I’ve got a bunch of stuff that was sent to me to frame. Some of the rare pieces were sent to me, so I frame them all and they’re all inside on the walls. People will be able to come and buy unique, rare pieces.”
Calendars, books and framed prints will also be available for purchase.
Fans can bring in their previously purchased work for Bateman to sign as well.
Admission is free and it’s set to kick off at 2:00pm and will likely go until 6:00pm.
But, as Westergard adds, “he usually doesn’t leave until he’s talked to everyone. He’s not going to get up and leave when there’s a big line up. We’ll just have to see how it goes and how Campbell River likes it.”
