Woman charged in Campbell River robbery spree

The Campbell River RCMP is investigating a string of robberies in the downtown area.

All of them happened between Feb. 16th and 17th, and in each case, the suspect is a female.

On Sunday, the Chevron gas station at 971 Island Highway was held up by a masked female brandishing a gun.

Police and Police Dog Services responded quickly but weren’t unable to locate the suspect.

On Monday, a masked female with a gun entered the One Stop Corner Store on Croatian Road, stealing items before taking off in a vehicle.

Roughly an hour later, a female matching the description of the suspect from Croatian Road pushed down an elderly woman at the TD Canada Trust and stole her wallet.

The senior suffered serious injuries during the robbery.

The suspect was tracked down by police in the Canadian Tire store, and was identified as Brittani Hunter.

Hunter appeared in court in Campbell River court today and was charged with two counts of robbery and the use of an imitation firearm while committing an offence.

The robbery of the Chevron gas station remains under investigation and police are asking if you saw anything in that area between 6:30 pm and 7:30pm, that you call them at 250-286-6221.
