The Campbell River RCMP is rolling out an online crime reporting system.
“Report a Crime On-Line” is launching on Mar. 18th.
Those with a valid email address will be able to access online reporting for certain non-emergency crimes and will receive a file number immediately.
RCMP will be accepting online crime reports that meet the following criteria:
- The report will not require a follow up by a police officer
- There is no witness or suspect
- The reporting individual has lost something that costs less than $5,000
- Someone has stolen something from the reporting individual that costs less than $5,000
- Someone has vandalized the reporting individual’s property or vehicle and it will cost less than $5,000 to repair it
- There are no items involving personal identity, firearms, licence plates or decals
The project is aimed at helping police focus on higher priority calls.
When made available, online reporting links will be published to the RCMP’s website.
