Officials are investigating a kitchen fire in Campbell River.

The fire department responded to the blaze in the 900 block of Holm Rd. at 4:00am this morning.

“On arrival, we found heavy smoke coming from the two-storey home,” says Fire Chief Thomas Doherty.

Two people were able to escape uninjured. They’re currently in the care of Emergency Support Services.

Crews stopped the fire from spreading to other areas of the home, but there was some smoke damage throughout the second floor.
