The Campbell River Major Crime Unit is investigating an early morning high-speed crash.
At 4:00am this morning, the RCMP was on the scene after a business was broken into near the Island Highway and Westgate Road.
Police then noticed a car speeding in the northbound lane of the Island Highway.
The driver lost control, crashing into trees.
The passenger was ejected from the car and suffered serious life-threatening injuries.
Police applied first aid and the driver was arrested.
The passenger is now receiving treatment at the Campbell River Hospital.
