Strathcona Dam gate maintenance now complete

BC Hydro’s annual spillway gate maintenance work at Strathcona Dam has been completed sooner than expected.

Spokesman Stephen Watson says the work “went well” and the road across the dam has now reopened.

To complete the work, the road was closed from 8:00am to 5:00pm from June 3rd to 5th, and the 8th to 12th.

It was scheduled to close again this coming Monday to Friday, but that’s no longer the case.

This maintenance ensures three gates are reliable during large storm events in the fall and winter and during flood risk management operations.
