City council confirmed the “state-of-the-art” washroom will replace the two existing washrooms located adjacent to the square and the centennial building on Shoppers Row.

The city says it will offer enhanced safety, durability, accessibility, privacy and visibility through slats around the top and bottom.

The increased durability and visibility will help to deter negative activities and vandalism while also reducing maintenance costs.

Various locations for the new washroom installation were considered with land availability and ownership, proximity to other washrooms, and feasibility of providing water, sewer and electricity services in mind.

The city adds that the existing washrooms will be relocated and used elsewhere in the community.
