Campbell River’s Ken Forde boat ramp reopens

You can now use the Ken Forde boat ramp in Campbell River again.

It reopened yesterday after crews removed the gravel that was washed up on the ramp.

This could only be done during a “sufficiently low tide,” Mayor Andy Adams says.

“It was delayed a little bit because we have to work with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to be able to get in there and clear that ramp,” he says.

According to city manager Deborah Sargent, this process was “no small task.”

“We moved more than a thousand yards of gravel from the ramp,” Sargent says. “In previous years, we’ve only had about half that amount of gravel that had accumulated and needed to be cleared.”

The removed gravel will now be used for shoreline restoration elsewhere in the community.
