BC Hydro is honouring its relationship with the We Wai Kai and We Wai Kum First Nations.
It installed two new totems at the trailhead of the Canyon View Trail in Campbell River on Monday.
“This speaks to a relationship we’ve developed over time since 2007 on the John Hart Generating Station replacement project,” says spokesperson Stephen Watson.
He says interpretive panels found at the trailhead share the meaning behind the totems and provide descriptions of artists involved.
Watson is now encouraging you to visit the trail and to check out the totems.
“This is a great venue space in terms of the Canyon View Trail loop with the Elk Falls Provincial Park, the Campbell River system, the new underground powerhouse and the storytelling involved here and we couldn’t be more proud with the result of these amazing totems.”
