Vandals caught on camera in Willow Point

Willow Point businesses are bearing the brunt of vandalism.

Smoke On The Water, a smoke shop on Highway 19A, was another business tagged with black spray paint this past weekend.

“My coworker came in Monday morning, and he saw the graffiti along the side of the building and by the backdoor,” says sales supervisor Ally Elias.

Elias says her coworker then got in touch with his boss, who told him to reach out to police.

“The boss came down, checked the cameras and was happy to catch the two of them with full face footage on camera.”

The surveillance footage dated Saturday, August 8th, shows vandals spray painting the stores back door with one vandal raising a middle finger to the camera.

Elias says she’s talked with a few business owners in the area.

She says, “one of the gentlemen who works a couple doors down from us says there’s a total of about six of them. But we only caught the two on camera.”

It’s believed vandals targeted numerous buildings over this past weekend, as a mural on another building in Willow Point was also spray painted over with black lines and scribbles.

Elias says the Campbell River RCMP have been made aware of the surveillance footage.

We’ve reached out to the RCMP for comment.
