Dangers of invasive species

The Coastal Invasive Species Committee held its AGM in Nanaimo recently.

The committee works to educate people about the dangers posed by things like Japanese knotweed, scotch broom, or zebra mussels. It also helps local governments tackle the problem.

Executive Director Rachelle McElroy says the AGM’s theme was “double jeopardy”,  the connection between climate change and invasives.

Earlier this year the province announced more than $ 24 000 in funding to help the committee with its work.
