Campbell River photographer captures second place in BC SPCA photo contest

We have an award-winning wildlife photographer in our midst.

Winners of the BC SPCA’s 12th annual Wildlife-in-Focus photography contest have been announced, and Campbell River’s D. Ross Fisher is taking home a silver medal.

His photo of a baby robin being fed by its mother won second place in the Backyard Habitat category.

Erin Ryan of the BC SPCA says more than 950 photos were submitted in two categories: Backyard Habitats and Wild Settings.

She says it was a challenge for judges to highlight only a few of the many photos that helped to celebrate the province’s diverse wildlife.

“We want to thank all the participants for sharing their amazing photos and helping to raise more than $32,920 to help the BC SPCA care for injured and orphaned wildlife,” Ryan says.

First-place winners in both judged categories will be featured in the upcoming issue of the BC SPCA’s Animal Sense magazine, along with the judge’s top three choices in each category.

The top 12 People’s Choice photos will appear on a pack of greeting cards available soon through the BC SPCA’s online store.
