Tidemark Theatre bringing plays, recitals to your living room

You’ll now be able to enjoy your favourite artists, plays, and recitals from the comfort and safety of your own home.

The Campbell River & District Chamber of Commerce has joined forces with Campbell River’s Tidemark Theatre to launch two new TV shows that will air this fall.

eXplore will focus on the arts, community and culture. It’s set to air Thursdays at 4:00pm starting tomorrow, September 24th.

Meanwhile, Insights & Business will offer a wide-ranging discussion with industry professionals from across the business spectrum. It’s airing Tuesdays at 4:00pm, starting September 29th.

The Tidemark, like many other businesses, had to pivot to a new reality due to the global pandemic.

Thanks to a grant from the Island Coastal Economic Trust and support from the BC Touring Council, it was able to invest in digital broadcast equipment to produce top quality productions as well as live streaming of shows, lectures and debates.

“We needed a way to keep our incredible team employed as well as provide our loyal audiences access to all the amazing shows and programming we have become known for,” says Tidemark manager Jim Kent.

“Working with the chamber is a tremendous avenue to expand our offerings and, at the same time provide a platform for people, community groups and businesses to engage with the whole of Campbell River and the district.”

This collaboration is the “joint brainchild” of Kent and Chamber of Commerce executive director Mary Ruth Snyder.

Kent had worked in community TV previously in his career, and Snyder had worked for Shaw TV North Island for seven years prior to her arrival at the chamber.

“We are so fortunate to have dynamic businesses along with an extremely diverse and engaging community that support each other every chance they get,” Snyder adds.

“These two shows provide a place for their voices, opinions and experiences to be shared widely expanding our community’s dialogue which can only enhance our vibrancy.”
