New supportive housing facility on Dogwood Street taking shape

Campbell River’s newest supportive housing complex is coming to fruition.

Construction crews began installing the pre-fab modular units at 580 Dogwood Street earlier this week.

With its doors expected to open later this year, the new facility will be geared to those experiencing or at-risk of homelessness.

It will offer 50 self-contained studio homes and support services. The Vancouver Island Mental Health Society is on board to manage the property.

The city is reminding drivers along Dogwood to expect temporary, brief road closures between 5th and 7th Avenues while transport trucks back into the site.

The modular home deliveries will continue until the end of day Monday, October 26th. The closures will last for approximately two minutes and will take place up to 12 times a day, between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.
