Comox Valley RCMP say ‘it’s clear’ stabbing victim won’t cooperate with investigation

The Comox Valley RCMP is sharing more details about a daylight stabbing in Cumberland.

Police say it wasn’t random, and that the attacker and victim know each other well.

It happened last Saturday, when people called 911 after coming across a man suffering from stab wounds on Dunsmuir Avenue.

Since then, investigators from the Comox Valley RCMP Major Crime Unit have been working to figure out exactly what happened.

“Initially, the victim did not provide investigators with very much information; however, it is now clear that the victim does not wish to cooperate with the police investigation,” said Cpl. Matt Holst of the Comox Valley RCMP Major Crime Unit.

“We now believe that we know where this occurred and we believe that all parties involved are very well known to each other.”

The Comox Valley RCMP is assuring everyone that this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the public.

The 32-year old victim is expected to make a full recovery.
