Showtime for Campbell River’s annual Truck Parade

This year’s Campbell River Christmas truck parade is a virtual success story.

The parade was cancelled because of COVID-19, so aerial imaging company Suavair put together three years of drone footage of the over 70 trucks lined up along the ocean.

The package also includes dozens of videos and photos from previous years.

Executive Director Jan Wade said they were heartbroken when their plan was turned down by the provincial health authority.

“But then a plan came together with community partners and three weeks later we had a beautiful and truly spectacular virtual truck parade,” Wade said.

Wade added, “We are so grateful to all the truckers and businesses who year after year turn their trucks into rolling works of art — it creates such a magical experience and while this year it is not in person, virtual is nearly as magical!”

“It captured every part of the parade over the years,” said Rob Priestly, Bill Howich Chrysler Ltd.

“I am truly honoured to be a part of the Parade and I thank all who assisted and helped you in not only putting this amazing video together but also who help you each and every year putting the parade together. Truly is remarkable.”

It was produced by Mary Ruth Snyder, executive director for the Campbell River & District Chamber of Commerce and edited by Dan Peruzzo from Shaw Spotlight.
