There are some changes coming to Quathiaski Cove this year.
BC Ferries is set to start construction on its new ferry layby berth at Quathiaski Cove on Quadra Island tomorrow (Jan. 4th).
From January 4th till March 19th, BC Ferries says crews will work on the uplands facility. This includes excavation, rock placement, and installation of an electrical building.
Then, the installation of the marine infrastructure will commence in late spring. This work is expected to wrap up by August 15th.
Considering the current COVID-19 situation, and to help minimize the risks to Quadra Island residents, BC Ferries says the work plan will limit all activities to the project site. It adds that crews will stay overnight in Campbell River as opposed to Quadra Island.
