City’s general manager of community development ready for new role in Manitoba

Spring is the season of new beginnings, and this is certainly true for the City of Campbell River’s Ron Bowles.

He’s currently the general manager of community development, but plans to leave City Hall within the next few months for his new role as city manager in Brandon, MB.

“We congratulate Ron Bowles on this opportunity to advance his career and return to family roots,” says city manager Deborah Sargent. “We’ll miss Ron’s steady support for his teams, his collaborative leadership and his focus on public service improvement.”

Bowles first joined the City and took on his role as general manager in 2014, leading a wide range of City teams.

This included finance, human resources, information technology, recreation, airport, bylaw, policing, development services, and long-range planning and sustainability.

While he’s excited about a new opportunity, Bowles says he’ll always recall his time at the City of Campbell River with fond memories.

“Advancements in municipal broadband service, fiscal practices, asset management, the City Scorecard, labour relations, social housing and housing growth review are initiatives I am most proud of,” he adds.
