Camper van runs red light in Campbellton, flips onto its side

Minor injuries to report after a car crash in Campbellton saw a camper van flipped onto its side.

Cst. Maury Tyre with the Campbell River RCMP says yesterday (Sunday) just after 6:00 pm, officers were called to the Highway 28 intersection at Highway 19, near the northbound bridge.

The camper van “had run a red light and was t-boned by a Cadillac Escalade,” Tyre tells My Campbell River Now. He says the van ended up on its side, with both drivers suffering minor injuries.

Campbell River Fire was on scene too. According to deputy chief Kelly Bellefleur, “the fire department was required to extricate the driver of the camper van through the front window.”

Tyre says both drivers were taken to hospital as a precaution, but have since been released. He adds that one driver was ticketed under the Motor Vehicle Act for failing to stop at a red light.
