The investigation continues into what sparked a fire that impacted two homes on Barclay Road in Campbell River.
The Campbell River fire department had responded to reports of explosions and two homes on fire on Tuesday afternoon.
Fire chief Thomas Doherty said firefighters arrived just a few minutes after getting the initial call.
“When we did arrive, obviously we had heavy fire volume in the primary house and the fire had already spread to the second home, as well,” Doherty said.
Doherty says investigators are focusing in and around an RV parked next to one of the homes, where they were told the fire had originated.
In a tweet, the department said fire crews were able to save two other adjacent homes from the fast-moving fire.
Doherty says one house was totally destroyed, with structural collapse, while the other one had substantial damage to its roof and top floor.
All occupants from both homes were accounted for and there were no injuries reported.
