Campbell River teachers march in protest

Campbell River teachers went on an impromptu protest march through downtown Monday afternoon after spending the morning looking at the contract offer from the Province.

About 200 teachers marched with signs and placards as cars driving on Shoppers Row honked in support.

Campbell River and District Teachers’ Association President Elaine Thompson says they are angry.

Thompson says the government isn’t negotiating in good faith and their offer actually decreased in the most recent proposal.

Thompson says the union is still at table hoping to bargain. Teachers across the province are starting their full scale strike Tuesday.
